If you’re planning a vacation to Tennessee’s Smoky Mountains, downtown Gatlinburg is the place to be! Known as “The Strip”, this hugely popular area is overflowing with incredible things to see and do. When you stay at Parkview Inn & Suites, you’ll be right in the center of all the action. To help you make the most of your getaway, we have put together a guide to six downtown Gatlinburg attractions that you can walk to from our hotel.
1. Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies
Voted the best aquarium in America by the readers of USA Today, Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies is a can’t-miss destination for any trip to Gatlinburg. Visitors will have the chance to see over 10,000 fascinating sea creatures at the aquarium, including sharks, penguins, stingrays, eels, and sea turtles. Ripley’s Aquarium is a 6-minute walk from Parkview Inn.
2. Doc Collier Moonshine
No trip to Gatlinburg is complete without sampling some of the area’s famous moonshine! At the Doc Collier distillery, you can try a variety of moonshine flavors, including Peach, Blackberry, and Greenbrier Apple. It costs $5 to participate in a tasting, but guests receive a $5 coupon in return that can be applied to any item in the gift shop. Doc Collier Moonshine is a 3-minute walk from our hotel.
3. Cooter’s Place
Cooter’s Place is another one of the best downtown Gatlinburg attractions. Owned by Ben Jones, who played Cooter Davenport in The Dukes of Hazzard, this popular stop features props and costumes from the classic TV show, including the General Lee. While parents enjoy the nostalgic Dukes of Hazzard memorabilia, kids can take a spin on Cooter’s indoor go-karts or play a round of indoor mini golf. Cooter’s Place is a 4-minute walk from Parkview Inn.
4. Guinness World Records Adventure
If you’ve always loved reading about the incredible feats in the Guinness World Records book, you’ll have a blast at this attraction! The Guinness World Records Adventure profiles many of the famous book’s most interesting characters and features interactive games and challenges. Guests will even have the chance to break their own world record! The Guinness World Records Adventure is an 8-minute walk from our hotel.
5. Ripley’s Mirror Maze
Ripley’s Mirror Maze is a winding labyrinth that will have you scratching your head as you attempt to navigate toward the exit. We recommend visiting the Mirror Maze with a group because you’re going to need all of the brainpower you can get to find your way out! Don’t worry about getting completely lost, because the attraction sends search parties every 30 minutes. Ripley’s Mirror Maze is a 7-minute walk from Parkview Inn.
